Multicultural relationships should be viewed as a thriller movie… you never know when something will strike… or that book you haven’t read from cover to cover. People always complain… “the fire in our relationship is gone… there is no adventure… everything has become a routine…'? We all know these comments. Well, here is your chance to get all that. And what better way to do this than have the element of surprise… cultural surprise (Am trying so hard not to use culture shock).
Imagine things you will have to eat for love… holidays, festivals… name them. Imagine the things you will have virgin experiences with ;-) . As much as most people view multicultural relationships as those headed for total disaster, I choose to see them in a different light… An adventure in Wonderland.
You have a Mexican girlfriend, here’s your chance to learn Salsa… Never had sushi… well this opens up opportunities to do the things you have never done… a window away from ROUTINE!! Reminds me of the movie “Demolition Man'? when Sylvester Stallone tasted a rat burger and actually got a kick out of it!!!

Shame that this discussion thread has been here for what, years now and this is as far as it gets?I love salsa, (can't do it though). I love the foods from various Hispanic groups. Afro Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, etc., Hell, I even like Tempura (not Sushi), but the point I'm trying to make is that we are a collective body of just more than BLACK AND WHITE. Mixed amongst us are other beautiful cultures.I have family members from the P.R. Yeah baby.......I love love Indian food. (Bamati Rice, Vindaloo, Tikki, Naan, oh come on! Indian is my favorite food. Love it - love it.....

I agree totally and like all types of different cultural cuisines. I am not a squid or oyster or fish lover but I love things from all cultures. I am partial to Korean food with their kimbop and kimchee and go choo jang. So what if I smell like garlic and no one wants to get near me, it is still rules to me.;-) And the turmeric and curry found in many Indian food is also good for your health besides tasting awesome.;-) Joseph Moyer

I think the surprise factor is part of the appeal of multi-cultural relationships. That idea that you never know what to expect is probably what draws a lot of people.
